Product Description:
Qualtech Products Industry Dual Head Rotary Abrasion Tester is a durable precision-built instruments designed to perform accelerated wear tests on a variety of specimens. This Abrasion Test is suitable for a wide range of samples including solid materials, painted surfaces, lacquered surfaces, electro-plated surfaces, plastic-coated materials, textiles, metals, leather, rubber, linoleum, laminated floor tiles, ceramic tiles and many more.
To perform a Rotary Abrasion Test a sample is mounted onto the rotary platform and is subjected to wear using two abrasive wheels with a specified load. Rotary Abrasion Test Wear Action is achieved with the two abrasive wheels rotating in opposite directions set and kept in motion by a turntable or rotary platform on which the specimen is mounted. The rotary Abrading Wheels travel on the sample surface following a horizontal axis displaced tangentially from the axis of the test material which results in a sliding action. An exclusive feature of the Rotary Abraser is the “X” Pattern of Abrasion established by the rotary rub-wear action of the Abrasion Wheels.
The rotary abrasion wear pattern formed on the sample surface is that of two intersecting areas or a slightly curved herringbone configuration from the outside to the center and from the center to the outside. During the Rotary Abrasion Test the sample surface is subjected to wear and abrasion and the material surface is abraded at all angles of grain or weave.
This professional Dual Head Rotary Abrasion Tester is designed and engineered in accordance with international test standards including:
- ASTM C501 (Standard Test Method for Relative Resistance to Wear of Unglazed Ceramic Tile by the Taber Abraser)

- QPI-1200DH – Dual Platform Rotary Abrasion Tester
Dual Head Rotary Abrasion Tester – Rotary Abrasion Test Evaluation:
Rotary Abrasion Weight Loss Method: The sample is subjected to a predetermined number of rotational cycles. Weighing the difference after the Abrasion Test allows scientists to determine the portion of the specimen which has been lost to friction during the Rotary Abrasion Test.
Visual End Testing Method: The number of completed Rotary Abrasion Test Cycles is counted until the sample material fails.
Wear Groove Method: The Rotary Abrasion Wear Groove is measured with an Optical Micrometer or a Profilometer.
